There is something truly special about having a big batch of warm cocoa waiting for you in the slow cooker. It is so much better than the instant packets and it saves you from standing over the stove stirring for ages.

My favorite thing about this recipe is how hands off it is while the flavors meld together perfectly. Just toss everything into the crockpot and let it do the work while you relax with your family.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 1.5 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Pour the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk into your slow cooker.

  2. 2

Add the milk chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and the pinch of salt.

  3. 3

Whisk everything together until well combined.

  4. 4

Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 2 hours, making sure to stir occasionally to ensure the chocolate melts evenly.

  5. 5

Give the mixture a final whisk before serving to make sure it is smooth and creamy.

  6. 6

Ladle the hot chocolate into mugs and add your favorite toppings like marshmallows or whipped cream.

πŸ’‘ Tips

Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to three days and simply reheat them on the stove or in the microwave. If the mixture gets too thick, add a splash of milk before reheating. You can also customize this by using dark chocolate chips if you prefer a less sweet drink.
