There is something so special about the smell of toasted nuts filling the kitchen. These candied pecans are a favorite in my house because they are incredibly simple to make, and they always disappear way faster than I expect them to.

I love keeping a batch on hand for whenever guests stop by. They add such a lovely crunch to a fresh salad or a simple cheese board, and they look beautiful packed into little jars with a ribbon as a thoughtful gift for friends.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw pecan halves
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk the egg white and water together until the mixture is light and frothy.

  3. 3

Add the pecan halves to the bowl and stir until every nut is well coated.

  4. 4

In a small separate bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt together.

  5. 5

Pour the sugar mixture over the pecans and toss everything together until the nuts are evenly coated.

  6. 6

Spread the pecans in a single layer on your prepared baking sheet.

  7. 7

Bake for one hour, stirring the nuts every fifteen minutes to make sure they toast evenly.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store these in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. If you want a little extra zing, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sugar mix for a spicy kick.
