Nothing says summer quite like a classic burger on the grill. These are always a crowd favorite at backyard parties because they are simple to make and taste much better than anything from a frozen box.

My top tip for the best results is to keep the meat cold until you are ready to cook. This ensures the fat stays inside the patty, which keeps your burgers juicy and flavorful every single time.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and onion for serving
  • Ketchup and mustard to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your outdoor grill to medium high heat.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder until just combined.

  3. 3

Divide the meat into eight equal portions and shape them into patties that are slightly wider than your buns.

  4. 4

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes per side.

  5. 5

Top each burger with a slice of cheese during the last minute of cooking so it melts perfectly.

  6. 6

Toast the buns on the grill for a minute, then assemble your burgers with your favorite toppings and condiments.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftover patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. When you want to serve them again, warm them up in a pan over medium heat with a splash of water to keep them moist.
