Ambrosia salad is such a wonderful treat because it balances juicy fruit with a light, fluffy dressing. It is a family favorite that always disappears quickly whenever I bring it to a picnic or dinner party.

My top tip for the best flavor is to drain your canned fruit very well before mixing. This keeps the dressing nice and creamy instead of runny, which makes for a much better texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (20 ounces) pineapple tidbits, drained
  • 1 can (11 ounces) mandarin orange segments, drained
  • 2 cups seedless grapes, halved
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, halved
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained pineapple, mandarin oranges, halved grapes, and cherries.

  2. 2

Add the shredded coconut and mini marshmallows to the fruit mixture and stir gently to combine.

  3. 3

In a separate small bowl, fold the sour cream and whipped topping together until smooth.

  4. 4

Pour the creamy mixture over the fruit and stir everything together until well coated.

  5. 5

Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for at least one hour before serving so the flavors can blend.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

This salad tastes best after chilling in the fridge for a few hours. You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days, but keep in mind that the marshmallows will soften over time.
