Classic Homemade Tiramisu
This beautiful Italian dessert combines layers of coffee soaked ladyfingers with a rich and velvety mascarpone cream.
dailyrecipesbook.comTiramisu is one of those desserts that always feels like a special occasion. It is incredibly popular because it balances the bold flavor of espresso with a light and creamy filling that just melts in your mouth.
My best tip is to let the dessert chill in the fridge for at least six hours. This gives the ladyfingers time to soak up the coffee and cream, which makes every bite perfectly soft and delicious.
Ingredients
- 16 ounces mascarpone cheese, room temperature
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1.5 cups strong brewed espresso, cooled to room temperature
- 1 package ladyfinger cookies
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract together until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- 2
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- 3
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture using a spatula until fully combined.
- 4
Pour the cooled espresso into a shallow dish.
- 5
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso for about one second per side. Do not soak them for too long or they will become soggy.
- 6
Arrange a layer of the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of an eight inch square baking dish.
- 7
Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the layer of ladyfingers.
- 8
Repeat the process with a second layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream.
- 9
Dust the top evenly with cocoa powder using a fine mesh sieve.
- 10
Cover and refrigerate for at least six hours or overnight before serving.
๐ก Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For the best flavor, dust the cocoa powder on top right before you serve it so the cocoa stays dry and looks nice.
