Classic Oreo Icebox Cake
This simple no bake dessert tastes like cookies and cream heaven and is always a hit at parties.
dailyrecipesbook.comThere is something so satisfying about an icebox cake. You just layer the ingredients and let the fridge do all the hard work while the cookies soften into a cake like texture. It is the perfect dessert for hot days when you do not want to turn on the oven.
My favorite thing about this recipe is how easy it is to customize. You can use different flavors of pudding or even swap the original Oreos for mint or peanut butter versions. Just be sure to give it enough time to chill so the layers set properly.
Ingredients
- 1 package of Oreo cookies
- 2 packages of instant vanilla pudding mix
- 4 cups of cold milk
- 1 container of whipped topping, thawed
- Additional crushed Oreos for the topping
Instructions
- 1
Whisk the pudding mix and cold milk together in a large bowl until it starts to thicken.
- 2
Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the pudding mixture until it is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Spread a thin layer of the pudding mixture on the bottom of an 8 by 8 inch square dish.
- 4
Place a layer of Oreo cookies over the pudding base.
- 5
Continue layering the pudding mixture and cookies until you run out of ingredients, finishing with a final layer of the pudding mixture on top.
- 6
Sprinkle the reserved crushed Oreos over the top.
- 7
Cover the dish and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours or overnight so the cookies soften completely before serving.
๐ก Tips
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator covered tightly with plastic wrap for up to three days. For the best presentation, slice the cake into squares right after taking it out of the fridge when it is nice and cold.
