This strawberry pretzel salad is a nostalgic treat that always disappears fast at potlucks and family dinners. The combination of the crunchy, buttery pretzel base with a light cream cheese layer and sweet strawberry topping is truly special.

My best tip for this recipe is to make sure your pretzel crust is pressed down firmly into the pan. This helps keep the layers distinct when you go to cut yourself a nice square piece.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces whipped topping
  • 6 ounces strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 16 ounces frozen sliced strawberries, thawed

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. 2

Mix the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons of sugar in a bowl until combined.

  3. 3

Press the pretzel mixture into the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.

  4. 4

Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.

  5. 5

Beat the softened cream cheese and 1 cup of sugar together until smooth, then fold in the whipped topping.

  6. 6

Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled crust, making sure to go all the way to the edges to seal it.

  7. 7

Dissolve the strawberry gelatin in the boiling water in a separate bowl.

  8. 8

Stir in the thawed strawberries and let the mixture sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.

  9. 9

Pour the strawberry mixture carefully over the cream cheese layer.

  10. 10

Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until the gelatin is firm before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This dessert is best served chilled, so keep it in the fridge until the very last minute.
