There is something special about eating a taco right out of a crunchy bag of chips. This recipe is a favorite because it makes cleanup simple and lets everyone pick exactly what toppings they want to add to their personal bag.

My best tip is to use small, individual snack bags so each person gets a perfectly portioned serving. It is a messy but delicious meal that kids and adults always seem to enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 6 to 8 individual snack size bags of corn chips like Fritos or Doritos
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Optional toppings like pickled jalapenos, black olives, or salsa

Instructions

  1. 1

Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until it is no longer pink.

  2. 2

Drain any excess grease from the pan.

  3. 3

Add the taco seasoning and water to the meat, then stir well and let it simmer for about five minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. 4

Open the individual chip bags carefully along the top edge.

  5. 5

Spoon a generous portion of the seasoned beef mixture directly into each chip bag.

  6. 6

Top the meat with shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and any other toppings you like.

  7. 7

Serve immediately with a plastic fork so you can stir the ingredients together right in the bag before eating.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

If you are hosting a large group, set up a taco bar so guests can customize their bags easily. Store leftover meat in the fridge for up to three days, but keep the chip bags separate until you are ready to eat to ensure they stay crunchy.
