Baked tortellini is one of my favorite meals to pull together when I want something hearty but do not have much time. The combination of savory sausage and a creamy tomato sauce makes every bite taste like a dish from a nice restaurant.

My best tip is to use fresh tortellini from the refrigerated section because it cooks much faster than the dried kind. You can also toss in a handful of fresh spinach during the last few minutes of stirring to sneak some greens into the meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 jar of your favorite marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

Brown the sausage in a large oven safe skillet over medium heat until it is fully cooked through.

  3. 3

Pour the marinara sauce and heavy cream into the skillet with the sausage.

  4. 4

Stir in the Italian seasoning and add the uncooked tortellini to the pan.

  5. 5

Stir everything together until the pasta is well coated in the sauce.

  6. 6

Sprinkle the mozzarella and parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the pasta mixture.

  7. 7

Place the skillet in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this warm with a side of crusty garlic bread and a simple green salad. If you have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat in the microwave.
