Creamy Matcha Tiramisu
This beautiful green tea twist on a classic Italian dessert is light, earthy, and perfectly creamy.
dailyrecipesbook.comIf you love the traditional coffee version, you will really enjoy this matcha take. It is one of my favorite desserts to make because the bright green color looks so lovely on the plate. The earthy matcha balances the sweetness of the cream perfectly.
My best tip is to use high quality ceremonial or culinary grade matcha powder for the best flavor. Make sure you do not soak the ladyfingers too long in the tea, or they will get a bit too mushy before you can even layer them in the dish.
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons matcha powder
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 package ladyfingers
- Extra matcha powder for dusting
Instructions
- 1
Whisk the matcha powder into the hot water until smooth and let it cool completely.
- 2
In a medium bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar together until the mixture is pale and thick.
- 3
Gently fold the softened mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until combined and smooth.
- 4
In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
- 5
Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until light and airy.
- 6
Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the cooled matcha tea, then arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a square dish.
- 7
Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
- 8
Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream.
- 9
Cover and refrigerate for at least four hours, or overnight if you can wait.
- 10
Dust the top generously with extra matcha powder just before serving.
๐ก Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. This dessert tastes even better the next day once the flavors have settled. Serve it chilled straight from the refrigerator for the best texture.
