Bang Bang Chicken is one of those meals that always disappears from the dinner table in minutes. The combination of the crunchy breaded chicken and that signature tangy sauce is hard to beat for a quick weeknight dinner.

My top tip for this recipe is to make sure your oil is hot enough before you start frying. If the oil is not hot, the chicken can end up absorbing too much grease instead of getting that perfect golden crunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Pat the chicken pieces dry with a paper towel and season them lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. 2

Place the cornstarch in a shallow bowl and dip each piece of chicken into the beaten egg, then roll it in the cornstarch until fully coated.

  3. 3

Heat a generous amount of oil in a skillet over medium high heat.

  4. 4

Fry the chicken pieces in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, then drain them on paper towels.

  5. 5

While the chicken cooks, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey in a small bowl until smooth.

  6. 6

Toss the hot crispy chicken in the sauce until well coated and serve immediately with a sprinkle of green onions.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this chicken over a bed of steamed rice or fresh lettuce cups to balance the rich sauce. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days, though it is best eaten fresh while the chicken is still crispy.
