Cute Reindeer Cookies
These fudgy reindeer cookies are a festive treat that kids love to decorate for the holidays.
dailyrecipesbook.comThese reindeer cookies are a favorite in my house during the busy holiday season. They have a rich, fudgy chocolate flavor that keeps everyone coming back for more, and they are always the most popular treat on the dessert tray.
I love making these because decorating them is so much fun for the whole family. If you want the chocolate to set faster, just pop the decorated cookies into the fridge for about ten minutes before you serve them.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mini pretzels
- 1/2 cup red candy coated chocolates
- 1/2 cup candy eyes
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
Cream the softened butter and sugar together in a large bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- 3
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating well until everything is combined.
- 4
Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until a soft dough forms.
- 5
Roll the dough into small balls and place them on your prepared baking sheet.
- 6
Gently press each ball down with your thumb to create a small indent.
- 7
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until they are set but still soft.
- 8
While the cookies are still warm, gently press two mini pretzels into the top for antlers, two candy eyes, and one red chocolate for the nose.
- 9
Allow the cookies to cool completely on the pan before you move them.
๐ก Tips
Store these cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. You can also freeze the unbaked dough for up to three months if you want to save time later. Make sure to attach the decorations while the cookies are still soft so they stick firmly.
