Easy Chewy M&M Cookie Bars
These colorful, chewy cookie bars are a crowd favorite that take way less effort than rolling out individual cookies.

These bars are my go to recipe when I want a sweet treat without spending all afternoon standing by the oven. They satisfy that cookie craving perfectly and look beautiful on any dessert platter.
My best advice for this recipe is to pull the pan out of the oven just before you think they are done. You want the edges to be golden and set, but the center should still look a little bit soft. They will finish cooking as they cool down on the counter.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups M&M candies

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9 by 13 inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the wet ingredients. Mix everything together just until the flour disappears.

Fold in one cup of the M&M candies gently by hand.

Spread the dough evenly into your prepared baking pan.

Sprinkle the remaining half cup of M&M candies over the top of the dough and press them down lightly.

Store these bars in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them soft for up to four days. If you want to make them last longer, you can freeze individual bars for up to three months. These are delicious served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
