There is nothing better than coming home to the smell of dinner already cooked and ready to serve. This BBQ chicken is a favorite in our house because it is so simple to put together with just a few ingredients, and it turns out perfectly tender every single time.

My best tip is to use two forks to shred the chicken right in the slow cooker while it is still warm. This lets the meat soak up all those delicious juices before you scoop it onto your plate.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the chicken breasts into the bottom of your slow cooker.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  3. 3

Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, making sure every piece is well coated.

  4. 4

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through.

  5. 5

Remove the chicken from the pot and shred it using two forks.

  6. 6

Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and toss it with the sauce before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this on toasted buns with a side of coleslaw for a classic meal. You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. It also freezes very well for a quick dinner later on.
