Easy Grilled Fish Tacos
These quick grilled fish tacos feature flaky white fish rubbed with homemade spices and served with a crunchy lime slaw.
dailyrecipesbook.comGrilled fish tacos are one of my favorite dinners when the weather is nice. The smoky flavor from the grill pairs perfectly with tender tilapia or cod, making for a light meal that feels special but comes together in just half an hour.
I like to keep things simple with a quick homemade fajita seasoning rub and a fast cabbage slaw. The secret to success is making sure your grill is nice and hot so the fish gets a great sear without sticking to the grates.
Ingredients
- 1 pound white fish like tilapia or cod
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 small tortillas
- 2 cups shredded red cabbage
- 1 lime, juiced
- Creamy taco sauce for serving
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your grill to medium high heat between 375 and 450 degrees.
- 2
Pat the fish dry with a clean paper towel to ensure it does not stick.
- 3
Rub the fish with olive oil and sprinkle evenly with salt, cumin, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- 4
Place the fish directly on the hot grill grates and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side.
- 5
The fish is done when it is opaque and flakes easily with a fork, or reaches an internal temperature of 130 degrees.
- 6
While the fish cooks, toss the shredded cabbage with fresh lime juice in a small bowl.
- 7
Warm your tortillas on the grill for a few seconds before serving.
- 8
Assemble the tacos by placing a piece of grilled fish in each tortilla and topping with the lime slaw and a drizzle of creamy taco sauce.
๐ก Tips
Store any leftover fish in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. Warm the tortillas on the grill or in a dry pan before serving to keep them soft and pliable. You can add a sprinkle of crumbled cotija or feta cheese if you enjoy a salty kick.
