If you love a smooth cup of coffee without any bitterness, this cold brew method is for you. It is incredibly easy to make right in your kitchen, and you do not need any expensive machines or special gear to get started.

I used to spend a small fortune on bottled coffee until I realized how simple it is to make a large batch myself. Just mix, wait, and strain for a concentrate that stays fresh in your fridge for days.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 4 cups cold filtered water

Instructions

  1. 1

Add the coarsely ground coffee to a large Mason jar or a glass pitcher.

  2. 2

Pour the cold filtered water over the coffee grounds.

  3. 3

Stir the mixture gently with a long spoon to ensure all the grounds are wet.

  4. 4

Cover the container and let it sit at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.

  5. 5

Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl and line it with a paper coffee filter or cheesecloth.

  6. 6

Slowly pour the coffee mixture through the strainer to remove all the grounds.

  7. 7

Transfer your smooth coffee concentrate to a clean jar and store it in the refrigerator.

  8. 8

To serve, mix one part concentrate with one part water or milk over ice.

πŸ’‘ Tips

Keep your concentrate in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to two weeks. You can adjust the coffee to water ratio if you prefer your brew extra strong or a bit lighter. Serve over plenty of ice for the best experience.
