There is nothing quite like a warm latte to get you through a long study session. Making your own lavender syrup at home is surprisingly simple and it saves you so much money compared to visiting a cafe every single day.

I love this recipe because the floral scent is so calming while you work. If you have any leftover syrup, keep it in a small jar in your fridge so you can stir it into your morning coffee or tea throughout the week.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 shots of hot espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup milk of your choice
  • Ice if serving cold

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine the water, sugar, and dried lavender in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  2. 2

Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  3. 3

Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup steep for about 10 minutes before straining out the lavender buds.

  4. 4

Brew your espresso or strong coffee and pour it into a large mug.

  5. 5

Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of your homemade lavender syrup depending on how sweet you like it.

  6. 6

Heat and froth your milk, then pour it over the coffee and enjoy immediately.

πŸ’‘ Tips

Store any extra lavender syrup in an airtight glass jar in your refrigerator for up to two weeks. You can use soy or almond milk if you prefer a plant based option, and it works perfectly in both hot and iced versions of this drink.
