There is nothing quite like fresh corn in the summer, but peeling back all those layers of husk can be a messy chore. This simple microwave trick makes it so much easier to get that delicious corn ready for your dinner table without any fuss.

My favorite thing about this method is how the silk just slides right off along with the husk. Just remember to use a kitchen towel when you take it out because the steam is very hot.

Ingredients

  • 2 ears of fresh corn in the husk
  • 1 microwave safe plate

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the corn ears, still in their husks, directly onto a microwave safe plate.

  2. 2

Microwave the corn on high power for 4 minutes for two ears. If you are cooking just one, 2 to 3 minutes usually does the trick.

  3. 3

Carefully remove the plate from the microwave, as it will be hot.

  4. 4

Cut off the stem end of the corn about an inch from the bottom.

  5. 5

Gently shake the corn from the silk and husk end, or squeeze the top to let the ear slide right out onto your plate.

  6. 6

Discard the silk and husk and serve your corn warm with a little butter and salt.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this immediately while it is piping hot with a generous pat of butter. If you have leftovers, you can store the kernels in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
