This Mississippi chicken has become a staple in my house because it is so easy to toss into the slow cooker before I start my day. It is a hearty meal that the whole family loves because the flavors come together perfectly during the long, slow cook.

My favorite trick is to use a fork to shred the chicken right in the pot once it is finished. This lets the meat soak up every bit of that savory, tangy sauce before you plate it up.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet dry ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 to 8 whole pepperoncini peppers

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker.

  2. 2

Sprinkle the dry ranch dressing mix and the au jus gravy mix evenly over the top of the chicken.

  3. 3

Place the butter on top of the seasoned chicken.

  4. 4

Add the pepperoncini peppers around the chicken.

  5. 5

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.

  6. 6

Once finished, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the pot and stir everything together.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

This dish tastes wonderful served over creamy mashed potatoes, cooked egg noodles, or a bowl of fluffy white rice. If you have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat them gently on the stove.
