If you love burgers but want something a bit different for dinner, you have to try these smash burger tacos. They are incredibly popular because they give you that perfect crispy crust on the meat while staying soft and juicy inside.

My top tip is to make sure your pan is nice and hot before you press the meat down. This helps create that delicious, browned edge that makes a smash burger so special.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pickles
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings like shredded lettuce and diced onions

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickles to make the burger sauce, then set it aside.

  2. 2

Divide your ground beef into 8 small portions and roll them into loose balls.

  3. 3

Place a tortilla on a clean surface and place a meat ball in the center. Press the meat out flat with your palm or a spatula until it reaches almost to the edge of the tortilla.

  4. 4

Season the meat side with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium high heat.

  6. 6

Place the taco meat side down into the hot pan. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes until the meat is browned and crispy.

  7. 7

Flip the tortilla over and sprinkle a generous amount of cheese on top of the cooked meat. Cook for another minute until the tortilla is golden and the cheese has melted.

  8. 8

Remove from the pan and top with your prepared sauce and any extra veggies you like.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. If you have extra tacos, you can reheat them in a dry skillet to get the tortilla crispy again.
