If you are tired of plain white rice, this bone broth version is going to be your new favorite go to recipe. Using bone broth instead of water adds a rich, savory depth that makes the rice taste like it has been simmering for hours.

This is such an easy trick to add more protein to your meals without any extra effort. It works perfectly alongside roast chicken, grilled vegetables, or even just a simple scoop of beans for a quick lunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white basmati or jasmine rice
  • 2 cups high quality chicken or beef bone broth
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, bone broth, butter or oil, salt, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.

  4. 4

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a tight fitting lid.

  5. 5

Let the rice simmer for 15 to 18 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed.

  6. 6

Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat this rice with a splash of water to keep it from drying out. This rice tastes wonderful served with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or toasted sesame seeds on top.
