There is nothing quite like a chicken parmesan sandwich when you are craving some real comfort food. It takes the classic Italian dinner and turns it into a handheld treat that is perfect for a satisfying lunch or a quick weeknight dinner.

The secret here is using a buttery garlic crust on the rolls to take the flavor to the next level. I always recommend using high quality mozzarella so it gets nice and stretchy when you broil the sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 2 breaded chicken cutlets
  • 2 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven or toaster oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

Mix the softened butter with the garlic powder and parsley in a small bowl.

  3. 3

Slice your rolls open and spread the garlic butter on the cut sides of each roll.

  4. 4

Toast the rolls in the oven until they are golden brown and fragrant.

  5. 5

Place the breaded chicken cutlets on a baking sheet and heat them until they are crispy and hot.

  6. 6

Spoon some marinara sauce over each chicken cutlet and top with a generous handful of mozzarella cheese.

  7. 7

Place the chicken back in the oven or under the broiler for a minute or two until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

  8. 8

Assemble the sandwiches by placing the cheesy chicken onto the toasted garlic rolls.

  9. 9

Sprinkle the top with extra parmesan cheese and serve immediately.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

To make this ahead of time, prep the breaded chicken in advance and assemble right before you are ready to eat. If you have leftovers, store the chicken and bread separately in the fridge so the bread does not get soggy. Reheat the chicken in an air fryer to get the crunch back.
