There is something truly special about these bite sized nuggets. The secret to getting that signature taste is marinating the chicken in pickle juice before breading it. It keeps the meat incredibly juicy while giving it just the right amount of tang.

My family asks for these all the time. They are perfect for a quick dinner or as a fun appetizer for a movie night. Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce and you will never want to go through the drive thru again.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup pickle juice
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1

Place the chicken pieces in a bowl and pour the pickle juice over them. Let them soak in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

Whisk the milk and egg together in a medium bowl.

  3. 3

In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, powdered sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika.

  4. 4

Heat about two inches of oil in a large pot to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  5. 5

Remove the chicken from the pickle juice and dip each piece into the milk mixture, then dredge it in the flour mixture until well coated.

  6. 6

Fry the nuggets in small batches for about 3 to 5 minutes until they are golden brown and cooked through.

  7. 7

Drain the nuggets on a paper towel lined plate before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat them in an air fryer or oven to get that crispy texture back. They taste great with a side of honey mustard or barbecue sauce.
