Homemade Greek Turkey Meatballs with Feta Sauce
These juicy turkey meatballs are packed with fresh herbs and served with a zesty, creamy feta sauce.
dailyrecipesbook.comThese Greek turkey meatballs have become a staple in my kitchen because they are so much lighter than traditional beef versions. The fresh dill and parsley really brighten them up, making them a perfect meal for busy weeknights when you want something satisfying but fresh.
My best tip is to use a light hand when mixing the meat. If you overwork the turkey mixture, the meatballs can turn out a bit tough. Just mix until everything is combined and you will have lovely, tender results every single time.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2
In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, parsley, dill, minced garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and the beaten egg.
- 3
Mix the ingredients gently with your hands until just combined, then roll the mixture into about 12 to 15 meatballs.
- 4
Place the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle them lightly with olive oil.
- 5
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until the meatballs are golden brown and cooked through.
- 6
While the meatballs bake, stir together the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and crumbled feta in a small bowl to make your sauce.
- 7
Serve the hot meatballs with a generous dollop of the feta sauce on top.
๐ก Tips
These meatballs taste wonderful served inside warm pita bread with some crisp cucumber slices. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can reheat them gently in the microwave or a skillet until warmed through.
