Non Alcoholic Aperol Spritz Mocktail
Enjoy all the bubbly, herbal, and citrusy joy of a classic Aperol Spritz without any alcohol involved.
dailyrecipesbook.comIf you love the refreshing taste of a classic Italian spritz but prefer to skip the alcohol, this mocktail is your new best friend. It captures that signature bittersweet citrus profile using a homemade orange and thyme syrup that is incredibly easy to whip up in your own kitchen.
I love this recipe because it does not require buying expensive non alcoholic spirits. By using a splash of olive brine for complexity and fresh orange juice for brightness, you get a sophisticated drink that looks and tastes just like the real thing at your next party.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- Peel of 1/2 navel orange
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon pomegranate juice
- 1 teaspoon olive brine from an olive jar
- 1 ounce orange simple syrup
- 2 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
- 3 ounces tonic water
- Orange peel and orange wedge for garnish
Instructions
- 1
To make the syrup, combine sugar, water, orange peel, and thyme in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- 2
Stir until the sugar dissolves and the liquid starts to simmer, then remove from heat.
- 3
Let the mixture sit and infuse as it cools to room temperature for at least 30 minutes, then strain it into a jar.
- 4
To build your drink, fill a glass with ice.
- 5
Add the pomegranate juice, olive brine, prepared orange syrup, and fresh orange juice to the glass.
- 6
Top with tonic water and give it one very gentle stir to combine without losing the fizz.
- 7
Garnish with a fresh orange wedge and an orange peel twisted over the glass to release the oils.
π‘ Tips
The orange syrup keeps well in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, so feel free to make a big batch ahead of time. When serving, keep your tonic water chilled and always add it last to ensure the drink stays as bubbly as possible.
