If you enjoy the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, you are going to fall in love with these easy no bake squares. They take everything that makes puppy chow so addictive and pack it into a chewy treat that is perfect for sharing.

These are a favorite in my house because they come together in just a few minutes on the stove. My best tip is to stir the cereal in gently at the very end so you keep that satisfying crunch in every single bite.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Line a 9 by 9 inch baking pan with parchment paper and set it aside.

  2. 2

Melt the butter in a large pot over low heat.

  3. 3

Add the marshmallows and stir constantly until they are completely melted and smooth.

  4. 4

Stir in the peanut butter and vanilla extract until the mixture is well combined.

  5. 5

Remove the pot from the heat and fold in the rice Chex cereal until every piece is coated.

  6. 6

Gently stir in the chocolate chips while the mixture is still warm but not hot, as you want some of them to stay whole.

  7. 7

Press the mixture into your prepared pan using a greased spatula.

  8. 8

Dust the top generously with the powdered sugar before letting the treats set for about 30 minutes.

  9. 9

    Cut into squares and serve.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store these treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. If you prefer a firmer texture, keep them in the refrigerator. You can also drizzle extra melted chocolate over the top if you want to make them look extra special.
