There is nothing quite like a big bowl of savory beef and noodles when you need something satisfying but do not have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen. This recipe uses simple pantry staples to create a meal that tastes like it came from your favorite noodle shop.

My best tip for this recipe is to have all your ingredients chopped and ready by the stove before you turn on the heat. Everything cooks very quickly once the pan is hot, so having your sauce mixed and noodles boiled ahead of time makes the process much smoother.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces ramen noodles or egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the noodles according to the package directions, drain them, and set them aside.

  2. 2

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and chili flakes if you are using them.

  3. 3

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium high heat.

  4. 4

Add the sliced beef to the pan and cook until it is browned and caramelized, which should take about 3 to 4 minutes.

  5. 5

Stir in the garlic and ginger, and cook for just one minute until fragrant.

  6. 6

Add the cooked noodles and the prepared sauce into the pan.

  7. 7

Toss everything together for two minutes until the noodles are well coated and heated through.

  8. 8

Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Leftovers keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. If the noodles seem a little dry when reheating, just add a small splash of water or soy sauce to bring the moisture back. Serve this with a side of steamed broccoli or bok choy for extra greens.
