Edible cookie dough has become a true dessert obsession, and it is easy to see why. It is nostalgic, creamy, and arguably even better than a freshly baked cookie. Because we heat treat the flour and leave out the raw eggs, you can enjoy every spoonful without any worries.

What makes this recipe special is the smooth, luxurious texture. Many versions can feel a little gritty, but this one stays perfectly creamy. Whether you roll it into bites, stir it into ice cream, or just grab a spoon, it is the ultimate quick fix for a sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with foil.

  2. 2

Spread the flour over the foil and bake for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through.

  3. 3

Remove the flour from the oven and let it cool completely on the counter for 10 minutes, then use a fork to break up any lumps.

  4. 4

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, confectioners sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, which should take about 3 minutes.

  5. 5

Turn the mixer to low and slowly add the cooled flour until the mixture is crumbly.

  6. 6

Pour in the cream or milk and mix until incorporated, then stir in the chocolate by hand or with the mixer on low.

  7. 7

Serve immediately, or store in the refrigerator until ready to eat.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your dough in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. If you want to freeze it, it will keep for up to 3 months. When serving from the fridge or freezer, let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes to reach the perfect soft consistency.
