Sizzling Chicken Fajitas
Bring the classic restaurant experience to your own kitchen with these juicy, seasoned chicken fajitas cooked in a hot skillet.
dailyrecipesbook.comThere is something so special about the sound and smell of a sizzling skillet coming out of the kitchen. My family loves these chicken fajitas because they are fresh, colorful, and packed with flavor. It is a wonderful way to get everyone excited for dinner.
To get that authentic taste, I recommend using a good cast iron skillet if you have one. Just make sure to get the pan nice and hot before you add the chicken so you get a lovely golden sear on the edges.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced into strips
- 2 bell peppers, seeded and sliced into strips
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 small flour tortillas
- Optional toppings like sour cream, salsa, or fresh cilantro
Instructions
- 1
In a small bowl, mix together the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper to create your seasoning blend.
- 2
Place your sliced chicken in a bowl and toss it with half of the seasoning blend until it is well coated.
- 3
Heat the olive oil in a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat.
- 4
Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes until it is cooked through and browned on the edges. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
- 5
Add the onion and bell peppers to the same skillet. Cook them for about 4 to 5 minutes until they are tender and slightly charred.
- 6
Sprinkle the remaining seasoning over the vegetables and stir well. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss everything together for another minute to heat through.
- 7
Serve immediately right from the skillet alongside warm flour tortillas and your favorite toppings.
๐ก Tips
Keep your tortillas warm by wrapping them in a clean kitchen towel or foil while the chicken cooks. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat them gently in a pan.
