This lasagna is a true comfort food favorite that never fails to satisfy a crowd. It features a rich blend of ground beef and sweet Italian sausage, which makes the sauce extra flavorful and satisfying.

You will love how the tender pasta layers hold everything together so perfectly. My top tip is to let the lasagna rest for about fifteen minutes after you take it out of the oven, because this helps the layers set so you get a clean slice every time.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 ounces marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 12 lasagna noodles, boiled
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. 2

Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a large pan over medium heat.

  3. 3

Add the onion and garlic to the meat and cook until soft.

  4. 4

Stir in the marinara sauce and oregano, then let the sauce simmer for about ten minutes.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with the egg and a pinch of salt.

  6. 6

Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce into the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.

  7. 7

Place a layer of cooked noodles over the sauce, followed by a portion of the ricotta mixture and a handful of mozzarella.

  8. 8

Repeat these layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a generous topping of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

  9. 9

Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. You can also assemble the lasagna ahead of time and keep it in the freezer before baking, just be sure to thaw it in the fridge overnight first.
