The Best Peach Cobbler
A classic summer dessert featuring sweet fresh peaches and a golden, cookie like topping.
dailyrecipesbook.comNothing says summer quite like a warm peach cobbler. This recipe has been a staple in my kitchen for years because it perfectly balances the juicy sweetness of fresh peaches with a buttery, golden crust. It is always the first thing to disappear at any backyard BBQ or family gathering.
My favorite part is the topping, which bakes up with a wonderful texture similar to soft cookie dough. For an extra treat, try sprinkling a little extra sugar on top right before you put it in the oven to get that lovely, crunchy broiled finish.
Ingredients
- 6 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar for sprinkling
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced peaches with 1 cup of sugar and the lemon juice. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- 3
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- 4
Stir in the beaten egg until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 5
Spread the dough evenly over the peaches in your baking dish.
- 6
Drizzle the melted butter over the topping and sprinkle with the coarse sugar.
- 7
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the peach juices are bubbly.
- 8
Let the cobbler sit for 10 minutes before serving so the juices can thicken.
๐ก Tips
This cobbler is best served warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. If you have leftovers, cover them tightly and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Simply reheat individual portions in the microwave for a few seconds when you are ready for another bowl.
