Valentine Muddy Buddies
A festive and crunchy treat that combines creamy chocolate and peanut butter with a sweet powdered sugar coating.
dailyrecipesbook.comThese Valentine Muddy Buddies are a favorite in my house whenever February rolls around. They are so simple to put together and always disappear from the bowl in minutes because everyone loves that perfect mix of salty peanut butter and sweet chocolate.
My top tip for this recipe is to make sure you toss the cereal gently. You want every piece coated in chocolate without crushing the crispy rice squares into crumbs.
Ingredients
- 9 cups crispy rice cereal
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1.5 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup red and pink sprinkles
Instructions
- 1
Place the crispy rice cereal into a large bowl and set it aside.
- 2
In a microwave safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
- 3
Microwave the mixture in thirty second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and melted.
- 4
Stir the vanilla extract into the chocolate mixture.
- 5
Pour the melted chocolate over the cereal and fold it gently with a spatula until every piece is coated.
- 6
Pour the coated cereal into a large plastic bag or a container with a lid.
- 7
Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag or container, and shake it well until the cereal is completely covered.
- 8
Spread the mixture out onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 9
Immediately sprinkle the red and pink sprinkles over the top while the chocolate is still slightly tacky.
- 10
Allow the mixture to cool and set completely before serving.
๐ก Tips
Store your muddy buddies in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them crunchy for up to one week. You can also mix in some extra Valentine candies like heart shaped chocolates right before you serve them to add more color and flavor.
