There is something so special about taking a slice of banana bread and searing it in a pan until it gets buttery and golden. Pairing that warm cake with cold ice cream is a classic treat that always feels like a celebration.

This recipe is the perfect way to turn your leftover loaf into a fancy dessert. If you want a little extra flavor, use a sprinkle of sea salt in your caramel sauce to balance the sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices of banana bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 scoops vanilla bean ice cream
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons caramel sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. 1

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. 2

Place the slices of banana bread in the skillet and cook for two minutes on each side until they are golden brown and warm.

  3. 3

Remove the slices from the skillet and place one on each dessert plate.

  4. 4

Top each warm slice with a generous scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

  5. 5

Arrange the fresh banana slices around the plate.

  6. 6

Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top of the ice cream and bread.

  7. 7

Sprinkle with the chopped pecans and serve immediately.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this dish immediately while the bread is still warm and the ice cream is cold. You can store any leftover banana bread in an airtight container for up to three days. To add extra crunch, toast your pecans in a dry pan for a few minutes before sprinkling them on top.
