Balsamic Grilled Portobello Mushrooms
These juicy grilled mushrooms are packed with savory flavor and make a perfect meatless main course.
dailyrecipesbook.comGrilled portobello mushrooms are a favorite in my house because they have such a deep, satisfying flavor. They turn out tender and juicy every time, making them a wonderful vegetarian option for your next cookout.
My top tip for the best texture is to make sure you do not rush the marinating process. Letting the mushrooms sit in the balsamic mixture for at least twenty minutes allows all those delicious juices to soak right in.
Ingredients
- 4 large portobello mushroom caps
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Clean the mushroom caps by wiping them with a damp cloth and gently removing the stems.
- 2
In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- 3
Place the mushroom caps in a shallow dish and brush both sides of each cap generously with the marinade.
- 4
Let the mushrooms sit for about twenty minutes to soak up all the flavor.
- 5
Preheat your grill to medium heat.
- 6
Place the mushrooms on the grill, gill side down, and cook for about five minutes.
- 7
Flip the mushrooms over and cook for another four to five minutes until they are tender and caramelized.
- 8
Remove from the grill and serve warm.
๐ก Tips
These mushrooms are delicious served on top of a fresh salad or as a hearty burger patty on a toasted bun. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days and reheat them in a pan.
