There is nothing quite like waking up to the smell of fresh chocolate chip waffles. These are a favorite in my house because they turn out perfectly light and fluffy every single time. They are sweet enough that you do not even need much syrup on top.

To get the best result, make sure your waffle iron is nice and hot before you pour the batter. If you want an extra crunch, you can sprinkle a few more chocolate chips directly onto the waffle iron right after pouring the batter.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • half teaspoon salt
  • 1 and three quarter cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • half cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  3. 3

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. It is okay if there are a few small lumps left.

  4. 4

Fold the chocolate chips into the batter using a spatula.

  5. 5

Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with cooking spray or butter.

  6. 6

Pour the batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, which usually takes about three to five minutes depending on your machine.

  7. 7

Serve immediately while they are still warm.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store any leftover waffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. You can crisp them back up perfectly by popping them in the toaster for a minute or two. These also freeze well if you wrap them tightly.
