There is something so comforting about a well made sandwich. This turkey and avocado version is a staple in my kitchen because it hits the perfect balance of creamy, crunchy, and savory in every single bite.

I love making these when I have leftover turkey or a quick deli run planned. The secret to a great sandwich is to layer your ingredients carefully so it stays together while you eat.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of sourdough bread
  • 3 ounces sliced turkey breast
  • 1/2 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 2 slices crispy bacon
  • 1 leaf of green leaf lettuce
  • 2 slices of tomato
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • A pinch of salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Lightly toast the sourdough bread until it reaches your desired level of crunch.

  2. 2

Spread the mayonnaise on one slice of bread and the Dijon mustard on the other.

  3. 3

Layer the turkey breast on the bottom slice of bread.

  4. 4

Place the tomato slices over the turkey and sprinkle them with a little salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Add the crispy bacon and the avocado slices on top.

  6. 6

Place the lettuce leaf over the avocado and close the sandwich with the second slice of bread.

  7. 7

Press down gently and cut the sandwich in half diagonally to serve.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

To prevent the avocado from browning, squeeze a tiny bit of lemon juice over it before assembling. If you are packing this for later, keep the wet ingredients like tomato and mayo away from the bread to prevent sogginess. You can store leftover ingredients in airtight containers in the fridge for up to two days.
