Crispy Air Fryer Onion Rings
These onion rings are perfectly crispy and golden without needing a deep fryer.
dailyrecipesbook.comThere is something so satisfying about a crispy onion ring. These are a favorite in our house because you get that wonderful crunch without the mess of a big pot of oil. They turn out light and golden every single time.
My best tip for success is to slice your onions into thick, even circles. If they are too thin, they tend to get a bit limp. Also, do not crowd your air fryer basket so the air can circulate properly around each ring.
Ingredients
- 1 large sweet onion, sliced into half inch thick rings
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- 1
Set up three shallow bowls for your breading station. Place the flour, garlic powder, paprika, and salt in the first bowl and mix them together.
- 2
Put the beaten eggs in the second bowl and the panko breadcrumbs in the third bowl.
- 3
Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Next, dip it into the beaten egg, then press it firmly into the panko crumbs to coat it completely.
- 4
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 5
Arrange the onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch.
- 6
Lightly spray the tops of the rings with cooking spray.
- 7
Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are deep golden brown and crispy.
๐ก Tips
Serve these warm alongside your favorite dipping sauce like ranch or spicy mayo. If you have leftovers, you can store them in the fridge for a day and crisp them back up in the air fryer for a few minutes before eating.
