There is something special about a cold bowl of ranch dressing made with fresh herbs and real buttermilk. Once you try making it from scratch, you will notice how much brighter and more flavorful it is compared to store versions.

My best tip for this recipe is to let it sit in the fridge for at least thirty minutes before serving. This gives the dried spices and fresh herbs enough time to soak into the creamy base, which makes the taste much better.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. 1

Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, and buttermilk to a medium bowl.

  2. 2

Whisk the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and combined.

  3. 3

Add the parsley, dill, chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice to the bowl.

  4. 4

Stir everything well until the herbs are evenly distributed throughout the dressing.

  5. 5

Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for at least thirty minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

  6. 6

Taste the dressing and add a little more salt or pepper if you prefer, then serve chilled.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your leftover dressing in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to one week. It makes a wonderful dip for fresh veggie sticks like carrots and celery or a delicious topping for a crisp green salad.
