There is something special about waking up to the smell of chocolate in the oven. This granola has become a favorite in my house because it stays nice and crispy while delivering a rich cocoa flavor that feels like a treat but is much better for you than sugary cereal.

My best tip for success is to let the granola cool completely in the pan before you try to break it up. This is what helps create those big, satisfying clusters that everyone loves to snack on.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup raw almonds, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

In a large bowl, whisk together the oats, chopped almonds, cocoa powder, and salt until everything is evenly coated in chocolatey dust.

  3. 3

Pour in the maple syrup, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Stir the mixture well until all the oats are moistened and evenly coated.

  4. 4

Spread the granola out in an even layer on your prepared baking sheet.

  5. 5

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the oats are toasted and fragrant.

  6. 6

Remove the pan from the oven and let the granola cool completely without touching it.

  7. 7

Once cold, stir in the dark chocolate chips and break the granola into your desired cluster sizes.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store your granola in an airtight container at room temperature to keep it crunchy for up to two weeks. It tastes wonderful served cold with a splash of milk or sprinkled over vanilla Greek yogurt.
