My best tip for these bars is to make sure you do not overbake them. You want the edges to be golden and set, but the center should stay soft and fudgy. If you have extra mint candies on hand, feel free to press a few more into the top right when they come out of the oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 cups mint chocolate chips or a mix of chocolate chips and crushed mint candies
