There is something special about making your own cocktail sauce at home. It is incredibly simple to whisk together, and you can easily adjust the spice level to suit your own taste buds.

I love keeping a jar of this in the fridge for shrimp nights or whenever I need a quick dip for seafood. Using fresh lemon juice really brightens the flavor and makes the whole dish pop.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce or to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small mixing bowl, combine the ketchup, prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and hot sauce.

  2. 2

Stir everything together until the ingredients are well blended.

  3. 3

Taste the sauce and add more horseradish if you want extra heat or more lemon juice if you prefer it tangier.

  4. 4

Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least thirty minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Store this sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. It is delicious served with chilled shrimp or fried calamari. For an extra kick, add a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper.
