When October arrives, I love mixing up drinks that look a bit mysterious but still taste delicious. This Witches Brew cocktail is one of my favorites because it has a vibrant green color from melon liqueur, balanced out by fresh lemon juice and citrusy orange liqueur. It is simple to make and always a conversation starter.

For a little extra drama, you can drop in a small chunk of dry ice to create a magical fog effect. It makes the glass look like it is bubbling over with a potion. If you prefer to skip the dry ice, the drink is still beautiful on its own and tastes fantastic.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Midori melon liqueur
  • 1 ounce Cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes for shaking
  • Small food grade dry ice chunks (optional)
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Add the Midori, Cointreau, and fresh lemon juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  2. 2

Shake the mixture well for about 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold.

  3. 3

Strain the liquid into a lowball glass.

  4. 4

If using dry ice, use tongs to carefully drop a small chunk into the drink and add a cherry for a finishing touch.

  5. 5

Wait for the bubbling to settle before taking a sip, and never consume the dry ice itself.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Always use tongs to handle dry ice and never touch it with bare hands to avoid frostbite. If you are serving this at a party, make a large pitcher in advance without the ice and add the cold ingredients just before serving. Remind your guests not to eat the dry ice piece at the bottom of their glass.
