There is something so satisfying about a salad that looks just as good as it tastes. This 7 Layer Salad is a staple for family potlucks and holiday gatherings because the layers stay crisp and fresh until you are ready to serve.

I love how the creamy dressing sinks into the vegetables while the bacon and cheese add the perfect amount of savory flavor. Make sure you use a clear glass bowl for this so everyone can admire all those pretty layers before you toss it all together.

Ingredients

  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 6 hard boiled eggs, sliced
  • 1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. 1

Start by spreading the chopped lettuce evenly across the bottom of a large clear glass bowl.

  2. 2

Add the celery and red onion in an even layer over the lettuce.

  3. 3

Layer the frozen peas on top of the onion, followed by the hard boiled eggs.

  4. 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, and sugar until smooth.

  5. 5

Spread this dressing mixture over the egg layer, making sure to seal the edges against the glass so the salad stays fresh.

  6. 6

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the top.

  7. 7

Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to let the flavors meld together before serving.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

To keep the salad extra crisp, do not toss the ingredients until you are ready to serve. If you have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
