There is something truly special about the combination of juicy heirloom tomatoes and rich, creamy burrata cheese. I love making this salad whenever the weather starts to warm up because it feels like sunshine on a plate. It is simple, elegant, and always disappears quickly at family dinners.

The secret to this dish is using the best tomatoes you can find at your local market. If you want to take it to the next level, just make sure to serve it at room temperature rather than straight from the fridge so the flavors really pop.

Ingredients

  • 2 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 ounces fresh burrata cheese
  • 2 tablespoons basil pesto
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • Flaky sea salt to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Arrange the sliced heirloom tomatoes on a large serving platter.

  2. 2

Scatter the halved cherry tomatoes around the heirloom slices.

  3. 3

Place the fresh ball of burrata cheese right in the center of the platter and gently tear the outer skin so the creamy center begins to spill out.

  4. 4

Drizzle the pesto, balsamic glaze, and olive oil evenly over the tomatoes and cheese.

  5. 5

Top the salad with the torn basil leaves and a generous sprinkle of sea salt and cracked black pepper.

  6. 6

Serve immediately while fresh, preferably with some crusty bread on the side.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this salad alongside toasted baguette slices to soak up the creamy cheese and juices. You can store leftover ingredients separately in the fridge for up to one day, but the salad is best enjoyed the moment you assemble it.
