When you need a meal that is both comforting and exciting, this spicy pasta is exactly what you are looking for. It uses the magic of chili crisp to create a deep, complex flavor that usually takes hours to build in the kitchen.

My biggest tip is to save a little splash of the salty pasta water before you drain the noodles. Mixing that water into your sauce helps it coat every strand of pasta perfectly so you get a bit of heat in every single bite.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces spaghetti or linguine
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons chili crisp oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Freshly grated parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions.

  2. 2

While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

  3. 3

Add the sliced garlic to the pan and cook for about one minute until it is fragrant and golden but not burnt.

  4. 4

Stir in the chili crisp, soy sauce, and honey to create your sauce.

  5. 5

Carefully scoop out a quarter cup of the pasta cooking water and add it to the pan with the sauce.

  6. 6

Drain the pasta and toss it directly into the pan, stirring well so the noodles are evenly coated.

  7. 7

Serve hot with a sprinkle of green onions and plenty of parmesan cheese on top.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Leftovers keep well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days. If you like extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when you cook the garlic. This dish pairs nicely with a crisp side salad or steamed broccoli.
