The Miami Vice is truly a vacation in a glass. By swirling a sweet strawberry daiquiri with a creamy pina colada, you get a beautiful drink that looks just as good as it tastes.

It became a huge hit during the 1980s when everyone was dreaming of sunny South Beach. I love making these for summer parties because guests always think the layered look is so fancy, even though it is very simple to pull together in your blender.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ice cubes for the strawberry layer
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 cups ice cubes for the pina colada layer
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • 2 ounces cream of coconut
  • Fresh strawberry and pineapple slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Prepare the strawberry layer by combining the strawberries, 2 ounces of rum, lime juice, simple syrup, and 2 cups of ice in a blender. Blend until smooth and pour the mixture into a separate pitcher.

  2. 2

Rinse your blender jar quickly to prepare for the next part.

  3. 3

Prepare the pina colada layer by combining the pineapple juice, cream of coconut, 2 ounces of rum, and 2 cups of ice in the blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  4. 4

Pour a little of the strawberry mixture into the bottom of your glasses, then slowly pour the pina colada mixture on top to create the layered effect.

  5. 5

Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry and a slice of pineapple before serving immediately.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

To get perfect layers, make sure your blender consistency is thick enough to hold the weight of the second layer. You can store leftover mix in the freezer, but it is best enjoyed right after blending. Use chilled glasses to keep the drink from melting too quickly.
