Classic Apple Crumble with Oats
A cozy apple crumble featuring soft spiced fruit and a perfectly crunchy oat topping.
dailyrecipesbook.comThere is nothing quite like the smell of apples and cinnamon baking in the oven. This crumble is my go to dessert when I want something comforting that comes together with very little fuss.
The secret is using a mix of tart and sweet apples so the filling has plenty of flavor. Make sure to cut the butter into the flour and oats until it looks like coarse crumbs for the best texture on top.
Ingredients
- 6 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a baking dish.
- 2
Toss the sliced apples with the white sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl, then spread them evenly into the bottom of your baking dish.
- 3
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oats, and brown sugar together.
- 4
Add the softened butter to the oat mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend it until the mixture is crumbly.
- 5
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
- 6
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the fruit is tender and the top is golden brown.
๐ก Tips
