Easy Lemon Glazed 7Up Cake
This simple trick turns a store bought cake into a homemade delight with a zesty citrus glaze.
I am not much of a baker myself. Measuring and precision just are not my strengths, so I prefer finding clever ways to make store bought treats taste like they came straight from my own oven. This 7Up cake hack is my absolute favorite trick for busy weekends.
Everyone at my last barbecue thought I spent hours in the kitchen working on this. It is a fantastic option when you need a crowd pleasing dessert without any of the stress or mess of baking from scratch.
Ingredients
- 1 store bought 7Up cake
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
Instructions
- 1
Remove the 7Up cake from its packaging and place it on a nice serving platter.
- 2
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, melted butter, and lemon zest until you have a smooth glaze.
- 3
If the glaze seems too thick, add just a tiny drop more lemon juice until it reaches a pourable consistency.
- 4
Slowly drizzle the glaze over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides for a beautiful look.
- 5
Allow the glaze to set for about ten minutes before slicing and serving to your guests.
๐ก Tips
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature to keep the cake moist for up to three days. If you want a little extra crunch, sprinkle some toasted chopped pecans on top right after you add the glaze.
