Easy Teriyaki Chicken
This simple chicken recipe uses a sweet and savory glaze that cooks right in the pan for a perfect weeknight meal.
dailyrecipesbook.comThis easy teriyaki chicken is a staple in my kitchen because it is budget friendly and tastes much better than takeout. I prefer using boneless skinless chicken thighs because they stay nice and juicy while they cook, and they absorb all that wonderful salty and sweet flavor from the marinade.
You can pull this meal together quickly if you marinate the chicken for at least thirty minutes, but it also works great if you prep it ahead of time. It is a fantastic option for busy weeknights when you want something homemade but do not want to spend hours in the kitchen.
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
In a bowl or a freezer bag, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- 2
Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and make sure they are well coated. Let them sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours.
- 3
When you are ready to cook, heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- 4
Remove the chicken from the marinade and place the thighs into the skillet. Save the remaining marinade for a moment.
- 5
Cook the chicken for about 5 to 7 minutes on each side until it is golden brown.
- 6
Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet with the chicken. Let the sauce bubble and reduce as the chicken finishes cooking, which helps create a sticky, glossy glaze.
- 7
Continue cooking until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 175 degrees Fahrenheit and the sauce has thickened to your liking.
- 8
Serve warm over rice or with your favorite steamed vegetables.
๐ก Tips
Serve this dish over white rice or with steamed broccoli to soak up the extra glaze. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat them gently on the stovetop.
