I love this recipe because it makes weeknight dinners so much easier. Using boneless skinless chicken thighs keeps the meat tender and juicy, while the homemade glaze creates that perfect glossy finish we all love. It uses basic pantry ingredients, so you never have to worry about finding anything specialty at the store.

You can marinate the chicken for as little as thirty minutes or up to twenty four hours to get those flavors really settled. It is a fantastic option for meal prep, and it honestly tastes even better when you know you made it yourself for a fraction of the cost of a restaurant meal.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl or a zip top bag, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, minced garlic, and grated ginger.

  2. 2

Add the chicken thighs to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.

  3. 3

Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  4. 4

Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it into the hot skillet. Discard the leftover marinade.

  5. 5

Cook the chicken for about 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until it is cooked through and the glaze has thickened and become glossy.

  6. 6

If the glaze starts to darken too quickly, lower your heat to prevent the sugar from burning.

  7. 7

Serve warm once the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 175 degrees Fahrenheit.

๐Ÿ’ก Tips

Serve this dish over fluffy long grain white rice with a side of steamed broccoli to soak up any extra glaze. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. This chicken also freezes beautifully if you combine the raw meat and marinade in a freezer bag ahead of time.
